Kathryn Sue Pugh, 75, of Warren, IN, passed away at 7:45 PM on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on Sunday, November 8, 1947, in Mt. Etna, IN, to John W. & Norma Straw. She married Samuel Eugene “Sam” Pugh on Tuesday, March 18, 1980, in Wise, Virginia; he passed away on June 15, 2002. Kathy attended Jefferson Twp. High School and was a member of the Warren United Church of Christ. She enjoyed being active in the church and would always help when she could in the kitchen. Kathy loved being a homemaker, being at home with her children when they were growing up. She would look forward to summers, when she would devote her time helping her family with 4-H projects. Kathy was known for making fudge cookies and knitted gifts during the holidays and liked doing picture puzzles.
Loving survivors include her son, Kent Alan Lassiter, Roann, IN, daughter, Linda (Chris) Winterrowd, Huntington, IN, son, Randy (Angie) Lassiter, Huntington County, IN, brother, Charlie (Janelda) Straw, Lagro, IN, sisters, Helen (Roger) Newsome, Andrews, IN, Judy Ervin, Marion, IN, Sheila (Cary) Cormany, Pierceton, IN, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. & Norma A. (Bedwell) Straw, husband, Samuel E. Pugh and brothers, Bobby Straw, Joe Straw & Eugene Straw.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at the Warren United Church of Christ, located at 202 E. 2nd Street, Warren on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A service to celebrate Kathy’s life will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating. The burial will take place next to her husband in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
