Roger Dale Mandrell

Roger Dale Mandrell, age 73, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at his residence in Huntington, IN.  

Roger was born on February 24, 1950, in Belleville, IL, to the late Wilbur and Peggy (Lankford) Mandrell. He married Colleen Gill on August 9, 1975, and she survives and resides in Huntington.

Roger served in the United States Navy in 1968. He received a mechanics degree from Ivy Tech. He worked as a mechanic and a truck driver until he retired.  He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington, and American Legion Post #85.  Roger enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and shooting guns.

Along with his wife, Colleen, he is survived by one son, Shane (Angie Fishbaugh) Mandrell, Huntington, IN; two daughters, Lisa (Richard) Clabaugh, Nicole (Jakob) Dangerfield, both of Huntington, IN; 10 grandchildren, Jeviah Mandrell, Crislyn Mandrell, Sapphire Dangerfield, Colby Mandrell, Kaylee Davis, Brayden Clabaugh, Ethan Mandrell, Deziree Bailey, Daniel Lavrey, Desteni Fishbaugh; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Mandrell, Bruce Mandrell; and one sister, Linda Heavin.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.

Additional calling hours will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.

Military Honors will be presented following Mass.

A private burial will be at a later date.
