Doris I. Schache

Doris I. Schache, 94, of Gaston, IN, passed away at 3:55 AM on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Albany Health and Rehab in Albany, IN. She was born on Monday, August 12, 1929, in Montpelier, IN.  She married Farris W. "Bud" Schache on Sunday, February 14, 1954, in Anderson, IN. Doris was a 1947 graduate of Montpelier High School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gaston. Doris had worked at RCA, Marion, IN for 7 years and retired from Gen-Corp in Marion after 27 years of service. She enjoyed water skiing, crocheting, taking care of her grandkids, traveling, reading, and was very active in her church. Doris was a member of the Red Hatters Society, Tops Club in Muncie, IN, Alpha Tau Sorority, and was a life member of the Women’s Moose Lodge # 63 in Hartford City, IN. Doris enjoyed playing Euchre. She loved to travel. The highlight of her travels was a trip to Israel and Ireland. Doris was a very giving person and was loved by all. 

Doris will be sadly missed by her Companion - Jim Mauck, Gaston, IN, Son - Howard E. (Vicki) Schache, Albany, IN, Daughter-in-law - Carol Schache, Dunkirk, IN, Brother - Ed Coleman Jr., Gas City, IN, Sisters - Iris Powell, FL,  Linda McLain, Montpelier, IN, Priscilla Sills, Montpelier, IN, 4 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her Husband - Farris W. "Bud" Schache, 1st Husband- Howard “Pug” Bell, Father - Edward Coleman, Mother - Sarah Viola (Evers) Coleman, Son - Bruce S. Schache, Sisters - Evelyn Kinser, Lola Moorman, Brothers - Albert Coleman, Gene Coleman, and Meridth Coleman. 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier, IN on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. 

A service to celebrate her life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Mike Osborne officiating.  Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery in Eaton. 

Preferred memorials:  The Wounded Warriors and/or Heart to Heart Hospice
