Calvin “Dave” Stone Sr.

Calvin “Dave” Stone Sr., fell asleep in death November 1, 2023, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana following a long illness. 

Dave was born to the late Clarence Calvin and Grace May (Hall) Stone in Edinburgh, IN on April 19, 1943, in a farmhouse. Dave and his siblings were “raised upright, raised up country all the way” learning how to work on a farm even before they started school. Dave loved spending time and taking vacations with his family and friends and enjoying a good meal and laughs together. He enjoyed traveling and being on the road with his “BIG RIG”. Dave joked saying he lived most of his life driving on I-65. Dave started driving semi-trucks after his retirement from RCA in Indianapolis, IN. After he stopped driving semi-trucks, he moved to Florida where he attended the Gateway Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses until he had to move to Warren, Indiana for health reasons in May of 2023. Dave became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the 1960s and enjoyed reading his bible and learning and teaching others about Jehovah God.  

 Besides his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his five sisters, Ida Haycox, Dorthy Snyder, Corrine Cambell, June Cambell, Phyllis Deaton, and 1 brother, Ernie Stone, two grandchildren, Justin Ray and Jessica, and his ex-wife and mother of his 3 children, Judy Ann Stone. 

He will be dearly missed by his 3 children, Calvin “David” (Ronda) Stone Jr., of Warren, IN, Brian Eugene (Tonya) Stone, of Indianapolis, IN, and Shawn Michelle Stone, of Charlestown, IN, brother, Kenny (Silvy) Stone, of Sacramento, CA, 13 grandchildren, Brandi, David, Scott, Robbie, Kendra, Krystel, Jennifer, Ashley, Nick, Freedom, Sheila, Amber, Justin, along with 28 great-grandchildren. 

There will be a memorial service held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Kingdom Hall, 288 Pleasantview Drive, New Castle, IN 47362. To join via zoom please reach out to the immediate family.
