Naomia Virginia "Ginny" Rogers

Naomia Virginia "Ginny" Rogers, 94 of Roanoke passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Milner Health in Rossville.

She was born on September 11, 1929, in Whitley County, IN to the late Glenn Howard and Lillian Purene (McCombs) Rupert.

On April 29, 1949, at the Pleasant Chapel E.U.B. in Roanoke she was married to Bill G. Rogers. He preceded her in death on December 17, 2000.

Virginia started her career as a farmer, then a homemaker for her family and later in life went to college at IUPUI Fort Wayne to earn her bachelor's degree in education. She was a teacher for the Fort Wayne Community School System for 32 years where she was known for decorating her classroom daily. She enjoyed teaching children and taught them how to make butter, and planned activities like studying the solar system, and hatching chickens in the classroom. She was a member of the Pleasant Chapel Community Church.

Surviving are her children; John William (Betty) Rogers of Huntington, IN, Joseph E. (Yendi) Rogers of Lafayette, IN, and James Arden Rogers of Roanoke. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Jamie, Aaron, Adam, Shirley, Virginia, Jonathan, Cynthia, and Glenn, 11 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great -grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her son, Cameron G. Rogers, her grandson, Jeremy, granddaughters, Patricia and Virginia Mae, and sisters, Ruth Archibald and Mary Lahr, and brothers Bill and Paul Rupert.

Visitation will be held from 11-1p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at the Pleasant Chapel Community Church 880 E 1100 N Roanoke, IN 46783. The service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joel Yeager officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Chapel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Chapel Community Church in loving memory of Virginia.
