Olive Janene (Spaulding) Gadbury

Olive Janene (Spaulding) Gadbury, 90, of Washington Twp., Hartford City, IN, passed away at her son’s home on Thanksgiving early morning, November 23, 2023. She was born on November 11, 1933, to Leroy Brooks & Ella Lucile (Croft) Spaulding in Blackford County. Olive was a 1951 graduate of Montpelier High School. Shortly after high school, she married the late J. Eldon Gadbury on Christmas Day of 1952 in the Independence Church of Christ in rural Blackford County.  She was a lifetime member of the Independence Church of Christ and worked for over 30 years with Blackford Community Schools in the cafeteria. Olive enjoyed going to rummage sales and playing the piano at church, where she started playing for the congregation at just 13 years old.

Loving survivors include her son, Calvin J. (Wife, Jane) Gadbury, of Hartford City, IN, daughter, Karen J. McTague, of Anderson, IN, grandchildren, Pamela (McTague) (Husband, Travis) Swartzentruber, of Phoenix, AZ, Ryan Gadbury, of Hartford City, IN, Nick (Wife, Catlyn) Gadbury, of Hartford City, IN, great grandchildren, Caiden Gadbury, Leighton Gadbury, Colsten Gadbury, Cara Gadbury, Max Gadbury, Michael Gadbury.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and all her siblings, Gaylord Spaulding, Gale Spaulding, Glen Spaulding, Edith Drennen and Gerald Spaulding.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, located at 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday, November 27, 2023. 
The funeral service will be held at Independence Church of Christ, located at Blackford County roads 500 N and 300 W, Hartford City, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Officiating the service will be Pastors Les Bantz and Michael Padgett, burial will follow in Brookside Memorial Park, Montpelier, IN. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Independence Church of Christ.
