James Lee Jennings

James Lee Jennings, 85, of Huntington, passed at 3:56 am Friday, November 24, 2023 at the Waters of Huntington.

James was born on July 27, 1938 in Markle, IN, the son of William Jennings and Deloros (Paul) Jennings. He graduated from Markle High School with the Class of 1956 and married Martha C. Smith on April 26, 1958 in Plum Tree, IN. Jim worked for the Huntington Fire Department from July 1968 - August 2000. He was the Fire Chief under the Kyle Administration from 1996 - 1999. Jim also worked in Dispatch and was a Driver for the Huntington Center on Aging. His other jobs included being a Representative for Standard Oil Company in Warren for 5 years, and he was a Wholesale Bread Rep for Sunbeam Breads in Ft. Wayne. Jim was a member of Markle Church of Christ and Northview Church of Christ and was a former member of the Huntington Exchange Club. He enjoyed fishing, wood working, camping, and traveling. He was a Coach for girls' softball for many years. Jim was a diehard Cubs fan and he traveled to Arizona for their Spring Training many times.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years Wife, Martha C. Jennings of Huntington, IN; Two Daughters, Rhonda Jennings (Brad) Green of Eufaula, AL, Renee (Matt) Armstrong of Huntington, IN; Sister. Marjorie (Harold) Arnold of Bluffton, IN; Two Grandchildren, Brooke Armstrong of Muncie, IN, Abriel (Kyle) Zerfas of Wabash, IN; Three Great Grandchildren, Chandler, Graham, and Andie Zerfas of Wabash, IN; Two Step Grandchildren, Mistylee (Derek) Taylor of Ft. Wayne, IN, Ashley Armstrong of Berne, IN; Two Step Great Grandchildren, Karis and Gabe Taylor of Ft. Wayne, IN. He is preceded in death by his Father, William Ray Jennings, Mother, Deloros Jennings, Sister, Marcella Jean Cook, Sister, Mary Louise Brown, and Sister, Martha Ellen Foughty.

Visitation will be from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN. Graveside Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 1, 2023 at Gardens of Memory Marion. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory in Marion.
