James “Jim” E. Stonebraker

James “Jim” E. Stonebraker, 81, passed away on December 2, 2023, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.

Jim was born on September 29, 1942, in Huntington, IN, the son of Dale Stonebraker and Mary (Stetzel) Stonebraker. He graduated from Huntington High School with the class of 1960 and attended Huntington College. Jim married the love of his life Carol S. Burman on October 8, 1971, in Huntington, IN. They shared 44 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on April 17, 2016.

Jim was the youngest of 9 siblings, growing up in Huntington on Oak Street playing baseball and other sports. He spent his adult life living in Roanoke and worked for International Harvester/Navistar for more than 45 years, often meeting for meals or golfing with former coworkers after his retirement.

Jim cherished his family, loved boating, spending time in his yard and pool, classic cars, watching baseball, basketball, football, car racing on television, and his beloved cat Big Boy. He avidly watched the Weather Channel, frequently checking his temperature, humidity, and rain gauges. Jim was always there to help with projects, care giving, or snow blowing the neighbors’ driveways.

Jim is survived by his children, son Jaimi Stonebraker of Andrews, son Todd Copsey (Tricia) of Columbia City, and daughter Tiffany Stonebraker of San Francisco, sister Norma Jones (Rex) of Huntington, brother Art Stonebraker (Carol) of Kokomo, and grandchildren Macey Copsey (Tyler Hobbs) of Larwill and Lucas Copsey of Columbia City, along with great grandchildren Xavier and Lillian.

Per Jim’s wishes, there will be no services.

Preferred memorials may be made in memory of Jim to American Cancer Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or Huntington County Humane Society, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN, 46750.
