Darl Dean Collins

Darl Dean Collins, 88, of Huntington, passed away at 2:15 am Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

Darl was born on March 4, 1935, in Huntington, IN, the son of Leroy Collins and Mary (Lutz) Collins. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Darl then served in the Army Reserves from 1955-1962. He married the love of his life, Barbara R Beeks, on February 8, 1956, in Montpelier, IN. Darl worked for Norfolk & Southern Railroad for 31 years before retiring in 1999. He was a faithful member of the Abundant Fellowship Church of Huntington, IN.

Anyone that knew Darl fell in love with is playful ornery side. His pranks and quick wittedness always made others laugh, smile, or feel a little uncomfortable. Darl looked for any opportunity to play cards and was quite a card shark. He was a Purdue basketball fan and cheered on the Indianapolis Colts. Darl enjoyed driving in his car, fishing, shooting pool, and collecting model trains. He carried many titles throughout his life but the ones that meant the most to him were husband, dad, and grandpa. Darl was a devoted family man that felt blessed to have such a large family and was passionate about making memories with each of them.

Survivors include his loving Wife of 67 years, Barbara R Collins of Huntington, IN; Two Daughters, Robin J. Parker of Huntington, IN, Delena M. Collins of Huntington, IN; Son, Kyle E. Collins of Huntington, IN; Brother, William “Bill” (Carolyn) Collins of CA; Sister, Shirley Arceneauz of IN; Seventeen Grandchildren; and Twenty-Eight Great Grandchildren.
