Richard H. Butler

Richard H. Butler, 75, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at 1:17 p.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Butler was employed at the Kmart warehouse in Fort Wayne for 22 years and later worked at the Majestic Corporation in Huntington for seven years before retiring in 1997. He was a graduate of Indiana University and also took courses from the University of Nebraska.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1934, in Albion to Guy L. and Crystal Faye Carver Butler. He married Nancy I. Covey on July 24, 1971. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two stepsons, Jim (Sandy) Bradley and Gary (Rhonda) Bradley, both of Huntington; two stepdaughters, Karmen (Don) Lahr, of Huntington, and Sheila Christen, of Roanoke; a sister, Virginia Marquardt, of Rockford, IL; eight step-grandchildren, Craig, Christi, Michael, Casse and Marisa Bradley; Jamie Martinez, Jason Leist and Canaan Powell; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. John Backes officiating. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
