Charles L. Chambers

Charles L. Chambers, 78, of Marion, IN, and having family members in LaFontaine, IN, died Friday, April 3, 2009, at 3:03 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Chambers served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had been employed by Bowman's Construction Company for 29 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Marion, was active with Boy Scout Troop 433 and was a member of Laborer's Local 1112.

He was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Marion to Leo and Helen LeMunyon Chambers. He married Ruby Smyser in 1953. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, C.L. (Leora) Chambers, of LaFontaine, and Chris Chambers, of Marion; two daughters, Connie Chambers, of Marion, and Carol Chambers, of Fairmount; two brothers, Rex (Jean) Chambers, of Marion, and David (Shirley) Chambers, of Fairmount; three grandchildren, Ryan (Brittni) Chambers, Michelle (Joe) Bowman and Justin Chambers; and four great-grandchildren.

A service was held at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, Marion, on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, with Rev. Jack Wachenschwanz officiating. Burial was at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
