Donald D. 'Hugger Man' Mosher

Donald D. "Hugger Man" Mosher, 77, of Roanoke, IN, died early Saturday morning, April 11, 2009.

Mr. Mosher had taught in the Fort Wayne Community Schools, Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne and the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

A 1949 graduate of Chester High School in North Manchester, he earned a bachelor's degree from Manchester College and a master's degree from the University of St. Francis. He was a past president of the Indiana Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He was a member of the National Education Association, American Legion Post 160 in Roanoke and Seminary United Methodist Church in Roanoke.

He was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Columbia City to Cletus and Mary Kriesher Mosher. He married Muriel L. Morey on June 7, 1952, in Fort Wayne. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Cheryl Britt and Cindy (Dave) Grabner, both of Roanoke, and Ann (Bruce) Burdick, of Fort Wayne; his stepmother, May Mosher, of Columbia City; a brother, Robert (Marcy) Mosher, of Calumet City, IL; and six grandchildren, Shane, Justin, Josh, Andy, Alyssa and Alyson.

A memorial service was held at Seminar United Methodist Church, Roanoke, on Thursday, April 16, 2009, with Rev. Kathy Miller officiating.
