Max E. Hilsamer

Max E. Hillsamer, 73, of Beavercreek, OH, and having Huntington County, IN, relatives, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009.

Mr. Hillsamer retired in 1995 from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where he worked as an aerospace engineer. After retirement, he was a substitute teacher with the Beavercreek School System. For over 30 years Mr. Hillsamer served as a church music director, deacon, and Sunday school teacher. For more than 25 years he coached and refereed wrestling, coached and umpired baseball and softball and kept stats for the Beavercreek High School football team.

He was born Sept. 14, 1935, in Brethren, MI, to Ray and Mamie Leckrone Hillsamer. His wife of 51 years, the former Phyllis Rupley, survives.

Other survivors include three children, Robin (Michael) Blinder of New Port Richey, FL; Max "Bud" (Kim) Hillsamer Jr,. of New Carlisle, OH; and Mike Hillsamer of Nashville, TN; a brother, Mark Hilsamer; and grandchildren, Haven, Tanner (Missy), Mitch (Taylor), Chris, Cole, Melissa, Jessica and Amanda.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Arrowbrook Baptist Church in Xenia, OH. Graveside services and burial followed at Beaver Cemetery in Beavercreek, OH.
