Bob M. Whitacre

Bob Mark Whitacre, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at 6:00 a.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation in Huntington.

Mr. Whitacre worked for Pic-A-Nut Corp (formerly Hunckler Products) for 25 years retiring in 1996. Prior to that, he worked as a brick mason for 15 years. He was a vetgeran of the United sTates Navy, having served form 1950 to 1954. He was past commander of American Legion Post 7, and a member of Roanoke American Legion Post 160. He attended Good Shepherd United Brethren Church in Huntington.

He was born Oct.19, 1930, in Huntington to Melvin and Helen Grimes Whitacre. He married Zouie Lancaster on June 24, 1960, in Huntington. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Mark Whitacre, of Huntington, and James (Cathy) Davis of Memphis, TN; and a daughter Vicky (Randy) Yohe, of Warren; 10 grandchildren, Andrea Trout, Melissa Trout, Josh Yohe, Justin Yohe, Sam Yohe, Lauren Davis, Callie Davis, Tylayena Whitacre, Daniel Ruckman and Tommy Ruckman; and five great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Monday, May 4, 2009, at Deal-Rice Funeral Home-Huntington Chapel, Huntington, with Rev. Larry Taylor officiating. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, with military honors by Roanoke American Legion Post 160.

Casket bearers were Bill Whitacre, Ron Whitacre, Josh Yohe, Randy Yohe, Daniel Ruckman, Tom Ruckman, Adrea Trout and Melissa Trout.
