Bobby C. Thompson

Bobby Carl Thompson, 70, of Palm Bay, FL, and having family members in Huntington County, IN, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at his home.

Mr. Thompson retired in 1990 from the K-mart Distribution Center in Fort Wayne, where he worked for more than 22 years as a forklift driver. He served as ordained mister for many years in Huntington. He worked as a contractor in Huntington for many years after working in the coal mines of Kentucky.

He was born April 25, 1939, in Pikeville, KY, to Wade and Bessie Akers Thompson. He married Margie Childers on Jan. 18, 1960, in Pikeville, KY. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Zena (Jim) Fishbaugh, of Huntington; Donna Hale, of Sitka, KY; and Hatty Jones, of Prestonsburg, KY; a son, Bobby (Mary) Thompson Jr., of Melbourne, FL.; three brothers, Boyd (Sue) Thompson, of Prestonsburg, KY; Bert (Sharon) Thompson, of Daytona, FL; and Larry (Lisa) Thompson, of Pikeville, KY; six sisters, Yvonne (Bon) Finchum, Tina (Al) Garguilo, Henrietta Moore and Doris (Mike) Messamore, all of Daytona, FL; Deloris Gauthier, of Louisville, KY; and Teresa Baldridge, of Louisa, KY; 14 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Thursday, May 7, 2009, at  the First Freewill Baptist Church, Huntington, with Rev. Brunk Conley officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington, County.

Casket bearers were Bobby Thompson Jr., Bobby Thompson III, Jess Thompson, Matt Conley, David Huff and Kenny Huff.  Honorary casket bearers were Tim Fishbaugh and David Wheat.
