Willliam Q. Jeffers

William Q. Jeffers, 60, of Bluffton, and having local relatives, died Nov. 29, 2008, at 8:20 p.m. at his home.

Mr. Jeffers worked for General Motors for 31 years, retiring in 2005, and was a member of the United Auto Workers. He also drove a truck for Imel Motors, Bluffton. He was a 1966 graduate of West Salem (WI) High School and served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971.

He was a member of Holy Scripture Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, where he previously served as a trustee and vice president of the church council. He raced cars at Baer Field, Montpelier, LaCrosse, WI, and Jefferson, WI.

He was born May 17, 1948, in LaCrosse, WI, to Quentin and Olive Sainsbury Jeffers. He married Karen Helke on Jan. 25, 1969, in Stoddard, WI. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Ann Leyman, of Keystone, and Kristine (Edward) Pharoah, of Huntington; four brothers, Michael Jeffers, of Cottage Grove, WI; James Jeffers, of West Salem, WI; Charles Jeffers, of Bangor, WI; and Robert Jeffers, of Janesville, WI; four sisters, Kathleen Crawford, of Janesville, WI; Patricia Marshall, of Holmen, WI; Margaret Sanders, of Melrose, WI; and Judith Gamboa, of Franklin, WI.

A funeral service was held Dec. 4, 2008, at Holy Scripture Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton.

Preferred memorials are gifts to Family Hospice and Palliative Care or to the Holy Scripture Evangelical Lutheran Church.
