The Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team dropped its first three matches at the Logansport Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 1, but finished strong by beating South Bend Washington.
The Lady Vikes, 5-5, swept their final opponent in two games, 25-17, 25-10.
The team's first match of the day, against Knox, went three games, but ended in a 16-25, 25-17, 9-15 Huntington North loss. The Lady Vikings got swept in two games in their following two matches, 17-25, 18-25, to Lawrence North and 19-25, 11-25, against Westfield.
In the win over South Bend Washington, Jessie Drew led the team in kills with 8.
Alexis Wygant had six kills and five digs and Allyson Trout had five kills and seven assists. Mikayla Carpenter also had five digs.
Against Knox, Trout had five kills to go with six assists. Allison Bucher had seven assists and Candie Armstrong had six aces.
Drew recorded six kills against Lawrence North, Wygant had eight digs and Trout and Alexa Hill tied for the team-lead in assists with eight.
In the match versus Westfield, Emiley Gray notched five kills, Trout recorded seven assists and Carpenter had seven digs.
