Determined performances by the singles players on the Huntington North High School boys' varsity tennis team helped power the team to a 4-1 win over New Castle on Saturday, Sept. 15.
No. 1 singles player Aaron Gilmore came up with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, win over Joe McIntosh, Tommy Bolinger defeated AJ York 7-5, 7-5, in the second singles match and Matt Sieberns emerged victorious from a 6-1, 5-7, 7-5 battle with Dusty Vincent at third singles.
Wyatt Nave and Cameron Buzzard had an easier go of it in their No. 1 doubles match against Dylan Clark and Jake Nicholson, cruising to a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Nathan Lundy and Andrew Smith weren't so lucky in their No. 2 doubles match against Matt Denney and Dustin Grayl, falling 1-6, 1-6 to give New Castle its lone win of the day.
In junior varsity action, Tristan Thieken beat Andrew Reust 8-5.
