Samuel M. "Sam" Blinn, 69, of Bluffton, IN, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at 9:45 p.m. at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Huntington, IN.
Mr. Blinn was a 1961 graduate of Jackson Township High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. He was a member of the United States Army for 22 years, serving tours in Vietnam and Germany and earning many awards including the Purple Heart. He served as an ROTC instructor prior to his retirement in 1983. He had also worked for TI Automotive, in Ossian.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 242 and Grover Sheets Post 111 of the American Legion.
He was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Wells County to Merle and Ethel Foust Blinn.
Survivors include three sisters, Rebecca (Bob) Hix, of Marion; Doris Blinn, of Warren; and Mary Lou Blinn, of Fort Wayne; three brothers, James (Jackie) Blinn, John (Karen) Blinn and Jerry (Rita) Blinn, all of Warren; and a brother-in-law, Jerry (Barbara) Pearson, of Plymouth.
There are no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the Van Buren Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are gifts to the charity of the donor's choice.
