Huntington North High School goalie Chad Wingo withstood most of a furious Homestead barrage but the Vikings came up a goal short and lost 3-2 on Monday, Oct. 1, in the first round at the Homestead Sectional Soccer Tournament.

Wingo, a junior, made a season-high 20 saves and senior Trey Bowling scored once in each half, but the Vikings were unable to extend their season and finished at 8-7-1.

Bowling scored off an Isaac Wust assist to cut Homestead's lead to 2-1 in the first half. The Spartans, moving on at 10-5-2, got an insurance goal that proved to be the game-winner in the second half before Mitch Mullins found Bowling for his second goal of the game to cut the margin to 3-2.

Spartan goalie Zach McFarland only faced seven shots, saving five.
