Indiana State Police Sgt. Thomas E. Matheny, of Huntington County, has retired from the ISP.
Matheny graduated from Huntington North High School in 1981 and attended the University of Evansville for three years before being accepted to the 42nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 1984.
Matheny was initially assigned to the Lowell post, transferring to the Fort Wayne post in 1987 and serving in Huntington County. He was promoted to corporal in 1993 and to sergeant in 1996, becoming the first line supervisor for troopers assigned to Huntington County. During his career, Matheny has also served as a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, as field training officer and undercover in the Drug Enforcement Section.
Matheny is married and has four children and two stepchildren.
