Pathfinder Services will hold its annual Community Recognition Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Huntington University.
The dinner's keynote speaker is Rachel Simon.
Simon is the award-winning author of six books, including "The Story of Beautiful Girl" and "Riding The Bus with My Sister," and frequently speaks on issues related to diversity and disability.
Simon's work has been adapted for theater, NPR and the Lifetime Channel. A Hallmark Hall of Fame adaptation of "Riding The Bus With My Sister" starred Rosie O' Donnell and Andie McDowell and was directed by Anjelica Huston.
The Herbert D. LaMont award will be presented to an outstanding citizen of Huntington for his or her work with adults or children with disabilities. The Timothy Hancher award honoring a direct service staff member of Pathfinder Services, Inc. will also be presented at the dinner. Outstanding community partners of the organization will also be honored.
The dinner will be held at Habecker Dining Commons on the grounds of Huntington University. Guests can meet Simon at a reception beginning at 5 p.m., and the dinner will begin at 5:45 p.m. The dinner will conclude with Rachel Simon's presentation to those in attendance.
