After more than a year in the making, the Huntington University bowling teams made HU history last weekend, Oct. 15-16, by competing in their inaugural bowling tournament, the Storm Western Shootout at Western Bowl in Indianapolis.
The Forester women's team finished 11th out of 26 teams, and the men's team placed 33rd out of 37 teams.
The all-freshmen women's squad had a two-day score
of 7,401 playing six regular games on Saturday and 16 Baker games on Sunday.
Based on the regular games, four Foresters placed in the top 50, out of 173 bowlers, in individual play. Emily O'Leary was 32nd with a 169.5 average, Stephanie Misamore was 34th with a 169.1, Cassandra Griffith was 38th with a 166.7 and former HNHS bowler Ayla Yeiter was 45th with a 16.51 average.
Robert Morris won the tournament with a total of 8,370 pins.
The Forester men's team racked up a total of 7,242 pins for its placing.
Freshmen Connor Brown led the way for HU with a 21st place finish in individual games, averaging a 195.3. Freshman Kris Kasson turned in a 52nd place finish with an average of 180.6.
