Kayla Snabl, of Huntington, was recognized Saturday, Nov. 10, at the 23rd annual "Realizing the Dream" banquet.

Snabl, now a sophomore attending Hanover College, is the first in her family to go to college. She has been selected for outstanding achievement in her freshman year.

The event, funded by a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., recognizes first-generation students attending Independent Colleges of Indiana campuses.

Each honored student receives a $2,000 check to assist with college costs.
