George E. Gray, 88, of Warren, IN, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at 12:50 a.m. at his home.
Mr. Gray served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic on Navy transport ships traveling between the United States and overseas ports. He was a lifelong professional bricklayer and was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, Huntington.
He was born May 14, 1924, in Crawfordsville to Albert F. and Myrtle E. Harwood Gray. He married Shirley Mae Krieg on March 10, 1956. His wife preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Jim) Garwood and Jacquelyn Riggers, both of Warren; a son, Tom (Margie) Gray, of Churubusco; a stepdaughter, Karen Krieg Winske; two brothers, Norman A. Gray, of Columbia City, and Billy F. Gray, of Wolf Lake; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours or services. Private burial will take place at a later date at the Marion National Cemetery, Marion.
