Sister Colleen Bauer (second from left), a former Roanoke resident, holds a giant boarding pass for a pilgrimage to Italy she received during a recent Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen. The gift was funded by donations by members of the newly-formed alumni association in honor of Bauer's 40 years of service as a religious sister and 25 years as a teacher at St. John the Evangelist Elementary School, in Goshen. The pilgrimage will take place in the spring. Bauer is the daughter of Catherine and Leonard Bauer, both deceased.
