The Huntington University men's basketball team pounded visiting Great Lakes Christian College, 75-50, on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Shane Merryman led the way for the Foresters, scoring 18 points on 8 of 11 shooting to go with nine rebounds. Ryan Boester tossed in 13 points with a game-high five assists and Colin Featherston added 11 points to the team's cause.
The score was knotted-up, 11-11, with 9:54 remaining in the first half when Huntington started a 22-4 run that would put it in command for the rest of the game. Tyler Palmer, Alec Peterson and Boesterall scored in a span of just over two minutes to give the team a seven-point advantage, then Merryman made two buckets and free throw, T.J. Short scored once from beyond the arc and Boester scored twice to push the Foresters' lead to 32-15 with 3:39 left in the half.
Huntington bested Great Lakes Christian in field goal percentage by 10 points, 45.3 percent on 29 of 64 shooting, versus 35.6 percent on 21 for 59 shooting.
Devlin Jefferson was the lone visitor to score in double figures, totaling 12 points.
The Foresters even their record at 5-5 while Great Lakes fell to 1-13.
Peterson added eight rebounds to the Forster cause as HU buiolt a 44-36 advntage on the boards.
HU had 18 assists for the contest.
