Deane Oren Moore, 88, of Ossian, IN, and having family members in Zanesville, IN, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Moore worked as a crane operator for Don R. Fruchy Construction, retiring in 1986. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Air Force.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ossian, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine and the International Union of Operating Engineers. He worked with the election board.
He was born June 16, 1924, in Liberty Center to Kenneth Lawrence and Esther Sophia Smith Moore. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gretchen V. King Moore.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Pamela A. (Rick) Sampson, of Columbia City; a son, Daniel J. (Paula) Moore, of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Michelle (Dave) Armstrong, Sam Moore, Paul (Nikky) Moore, charley Moore and Katy Moore; and six great-grandsons.
Calling is Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 W. Mill St., Ossian. A service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 123 S. Jefferson St., Ossian. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
