Wilbur E. "Bill" McLaughlin, 85, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at 10 a.m. at his home.
Mr. McLaughlin was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving as a corporal in World War II. He retired from the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad/Conrail after 42 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Eagles Lodge 823 and a member of Faith Community Church of God, Huntington.
He was born July 20, 1927, in Huntington to Farrell D. and Marie Baker McLaughlin. He married Wanda J. Weaver on Jan. 4, 1947, in Huntington. His wife survives.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette (Thomas) Ebersole, of Huntington; two sons, Robert "Bob" (Wrethia) McLaughlin, of Andrews, and Wayne (Nancy) McLaughlin, of Huntington; a sister, Sharon (Paul) Stein, of Grants Pass, OR; eight grandchildren, Beverly (Ben) Follin, of Jefferson, OH; Julie DeLeon, of Convoy, OH; Sara (B.J.) Lusch and Adam McLaughlin, both of Huntington; Jack (Laly) Peters Jr., of Chester, VA; Kevin (Brenda) McLaughlin, of Wichita, KS; Jeffrey (Carrie) Ebersole, of Columbia City; and Joseph (Angie) Ebersole and Aaron (Pam) McLaughlin, both of Fort Wayne; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Steve Stull officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, Huntington.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Faith Community Church of God building fund in care of the funeral home.
