The first baby of 2013 didn't make his appearance at Parkview Huntington Hospital until the second day of the year, but that was still earlier than his parents expected.
Samuel Evans Butler arrived on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 1:39 p.m., making him Parkview Huntington's New Year's baby.
His parents, Katie Robinson and Jesse Butler, of Wabash, say Samuel arrived six days early. Robinson's due date was Jan. 8.
They came to Parkview Huntington for the delivery because the Wabash County Hospital doesn't deliver babies, Butler says.
Samuel weighed in at an even 7 pounds and joins big brother Jayson Butler, 1.
