The Huntington North High School boys' varsity bowling team defeated visiting Bellmont, 1213-856, and claimed the 2012-13 Hoosier Conference championship at Oak Lanes Bowling Center, in Huntington, on Saturday, Jan. 12.

The Vikings' score was a state high for a team game, blasting the old record of 1179 by 34 pins.

In the first game, the team was paced by Zac Tackett's 269, Adam Harris-Shoemaker's 266, A.J. Bickel's 230 and Tyler Krepp and Jon Scott's matching tallies of 224.

Huntington North won the second game 901-823.
