The Crestview Middle School girls' eighth grade basketball team beat Peru in the first game of the Crestview Middle School tournament, 35-27, but fell short in the championship game against Whitko, 43-25, on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Aubrie Eckert led the Cougars, 3-3, with 10 points and six steals against Peru. Ariene Butler added eight points and six rebounds and Jennifer Bartels produced six points.

Cannici supplied 10 points for Crestview in the title game versus Whitko, followed by Eckert's nine.
