When the Huntington University women's basketball team got close to host Bethel College during their game on Wednesday, Feb. 6, the Lady Pilots went on scoring runs and the Foresters couldn't keep up, losing 65-56.
Huntington snuck ahead of Bethel, 11-8, at the 10:07 mark of the first half before the 15th-ranked Lady Pilots went on a 13-2 tear to re-establish their lead and help give themselves a 30-20 halftime advantage.
Bethel led comfortably throughout the second half, but a 9-0 spurt by Huntington put it behind by just three at 53-50 with 3:25 left in the contest before the Pilots closed out the game by doubling the Foresters' point production, 12-6, to secure the win.
Allison Green paced the Foresters, 15-11, 7-8 in the Crossroads League, with 16 points and three assists. Pazia Speed tossed in 12 points for Huntington and Sarah Miller-Jennings added 10 points to go with a team-high seven rebounds.
Ashlee Ort and Georgia Boisse led Bethel, 21-6, 11-4 in the Crossroads League, with 16 points apiece. Laura Johnson and Chrissy Hooks supplemented their offensive production with 12 and eight points, respectively.
The Foresters hit 20 of 58 shots from the field for 34.5 percent to the Lady Pilots' 22 for 57 showing for 38.6 percent.
