The Huntington North High School boys' varsity basketball team let a tight contest slip away in the final quarter and lost to visiting Marion, 77-60, on Thursday, Feb. 7.
The Vikings, 9-10, trailed after the first quarter, 22-18, but took a 35-33 lead into the locker room at halftime. They were down 49-45 after three quarters before Marion, 9-11, pulled away in the final frame with a 28-15 advantage.
The game featured 14 lead changes and three ties.
Noah Reed tallied a game-high 19 points for HNHS, with Kalvin Miller adding 15 and Trenton Kern tossing in eight.
Marion had four players in double figures, led by Xavier Aguilar scoring 18 points on a perfect 7 of 7 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. Hunter Rose tallied 15 on 7 of 8 from the field, Alec Turner scored 13 and Tyrel Cobb scored 10 points.
Marion hit 31 of 51 shots from the field for 60.7 percent for the game, and added 8 of 9 from the stripe for 88.9 percent.
Huntington hit 20 of 51 for 39.2 percent from the field and 13 of 14 from the free-throw line for 92.9 percent.
Keaton Irwin led HNHS with three assists.
The Vikings junior varsity won 72-60 as Jordan Seabolt scored 16 points and Konner Platt notched 15.
