Elvin Mann Schrope, 98, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Heritage Pointe, Warren, IN.
Mr. Schrope graduated from Anderson High School in 1932 and GM Tech in Flint, MI, in 1936. He worked as a toolmaker at Delco Remy, in Anderson, until 1946; for the architectural firm of Hamilton & Graham, in Muncie, until 1951; and in the plant engineering department of Delco Remy, Anderson, until his retirement in 1974. He was a resident of Sun City, AZ, from 1980 until moving to Heritage Pointe in 1993.
He was born Sept. 2, 1914, in Anderson to William Daniel and Emma Susan Mann Schrope. He married Juanita Eillene Seybert on Aug. 18, 1937, and she preceded him in death in 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Schrope (Sherman) Scott, of Warren and Anderson; a son, Fred E. (Kay) Schrope, of rural Hartford City; a sister, Elsie (George) Hughes, of Indianapolis; a brother, Daniel (Sue) Schrope, of Anderson; seven grandchildren, Suzanne (Larry) Jones, Scott Aldred and Amy Aldred, all of Winder, GA; Sherol (Dan Irons) Scott, of Athens, GA; Michael (Julie) Schrope, of rural Greenfield; Kathy (Mike) Dunsmore, of Morrow, OH; and Alan (Lisa) Schrope, of Sahuarita, AZ; and nine great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Applegate Chapel of Heritage Pointe. A service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the cemetery. Rev. Carol Schrope Scott will officiate. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery.
