A pediatric rehabilitation therapy unit is under construction at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
The 600-square foot unit, expected to open in mid-April, will be located on the hospital's lower level.
"The expansion will allow us to enhance services currently provided in our main department with a dedicated space with pediatric equipment for this population," says Holly Sale, director of rehabilitation and wellness at the hospital.
"We will also be able to offer physical, occupational and speech therapy services in partnership with the new Parkview Huntington Autism Center," Sale says.
The unit will include a gymnasium with open space for children's activities and a ceiling-mounted swing for therapeutic treatment.
Two private rooms will be used for occupational and speech therapy, allowing children a distraction-free space where they can focus on treatment.
