After leaving Newcastle, DE, more than a year ago, Larry Coleman and Yvonne Roe decided it was time to bring a little East Coast flavor to the Midwest.
The couple owns Taste of Philly, which opened on March 7 in Roanoke.
Coleman, a laid-off General Motors employee, says after work dried up in his field, they needed to find something else.
"Yvonne's got about 10 years of experience on and off in the food industry," he says. "We were here for a year and couldn't find anything really good to eat."
He adds that the store specializes in Philly cheesesteaks, East Coast subs and also features a full deli.
"We just want to offer a different style of food that people will enjoy," Coleman adds. "That's what we hope to bring to the community."
Hours of operation for Taste of Philly are Monday through Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The store is located at 4227 E. Station Rd., Roanoke, on the opposite end of the strip mall where Nick's Junction is located.
