A sixth-place finish by the distance medley relay team was the highlight of the day for the Huntington North High School boys' varsity track and field team on Saturday, March 9, at a Hoosier State Relays Qualifier at Trine University.
The squad of Cordell Lewis, Andrew Sizemore, Jordan Utter and Charlie Mettler secured sixth with their time of 11:29.70.
The 800-meter relay relay team of Kole Hale, Isaac Smith, Adam Woods and Houston Lehman finished in 1:42.69, while the 1,600-meter quartet of Hale, Collin Wesco, Matt Dewitt and Drew Fawcett turned in a time of 3:56.28 and the 3,200-meter unit of Jake Shaw, Austin Lange, Aaron Ebert and Dewitt clocked in at 9:26.18.
Sizemore led the Vikings in the 55-meter dash with a time of :07.07, followed by Shaw's :07.21, Smith's :07.31 and Hale's :07.46.
Luke Doughty paced all Huntington North runners in the 3,200-meter run, finishing in 10:42.41. Dustin Campell clocked in just behind his teammate in 10:47.47, followed by Alex Overby in 11:01.14 and Christian Jones in 11:03.46.
Andrew Spahr was the top long jumper with a spring of 19-2.75, trailed by Fawcett's 18-5.
Lehman was the leader in pole vault with a leap of 10-6, right ahead of Woods' 10-0.
In shot put, Alex Kaylor achieved a team-best throw of 41-4.5, followed by Nathan Sutter's 40-10 and Layne Neal's 36-9.
Woods recorded a time of :09.29 in the 55-meter hurdles for the Vikings and Lehman made a leap of 5-6 in high jump.
