Bernetta D. Welling, 74, of Columbia City, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at 7:17 p.m. at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Welling retired in 2005 from Fox Products, where she had worked in the bassoon rodding department for 15 years. She was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church. She graduated from West Greene High School, Rogersville, PA.
She was born Nov. 2, 1938, near Wind Ridge, PA, to Charles and Dorothy Hartley Seifert. She was raised by her grandparents, Wilford and Louella Hartley. She married Wilbert C. "Wib" Welling on Dec. 26, 1957, at the Grace Brethren Church, Aleppo, PA. He preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 2010.
Survivors include two sons, Randy (Ann) Welling, of Greenfield, and LeRoy (Hollie) Welling, of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Saundra (Brad) Fredrickson, of Churubusco, and Crystal Salesman, of Columbia City; a half-sister, Shirley (Gilbert) Williams McCardle, of Wheeling, WV; seven grandchildren, April (Damon) Dix, of Milton, FL; James (Nicole) Welling, serving with the U.S. Navy in Groton, CT; Charles (Sophia) Welling, serving with the U.S. Army in Tucson, AZ; Cayla (Tyler) Walchle, of Roanoke; Savannah Welling, of Spencerville; Cathryn Fredrickson, of Churubusco; and Jennifer Salesman, of Columbia City; and six great-grandchildren.
A service was held on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial was at Union Township Cemetery.
