Marjorie A. Blake, 81, of Warren, IN, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at 5 p.m. at Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Blake was a 1949 graduate of Ann Arbor High School in Ann Arbor, MI, and a 1979 graduate of IU-Kokomo, where she received her nursing degree. She retired as a registered nurse from Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie and formerly worked at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Lynn to Harold and Winnifred Brown Hutchens. She married Dr. Floyd Blake on June 4, 1950, in Upland in the Upland United Methodist Church. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Chuck (Vicki) Blake, of West Lafayette, and Harold (Jennifer) Blake, of Brownsburg; two daughters, Lori (Jeff) Carpenter, of Roscoe, IL, and Lisa (Curt) Holmes, of Union, MI; two sisters, Mary Hutchens, of Michigan, and Winnie Hamilton, of Aurora, CO; and eight grandchildren, Tricia Holmes and Allyson Holmes, both of Indianapolis; Marcus Blake, of Riverview, FL; Jon Blake, of Brownsburg; Julie Baxter, of Clarksville, TN; Michelle Holmes, of Fishers; Brian Carpenter, of Chicago, IL; and Amber Blake, of Mooresville.
Calling is Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon, with additional hours from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at Heritage Pointe-Applegate Chapel, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren.
A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Dale Mendenhall officiating and Dr. Herbert Buwalda assisting. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Eaton.
