A little rain didn't stop the Huntington North High School boys' varsity golf team as it blasted host Manchester, 175-198, on Tuesday, April 23.
Grant Meese led the way with medalist honors on the day with a 43, and teammates Zac Tackett, Sebastian Eckert and Dakota Wibel were just one stroke back at 44.
Despite being a non-scorer, Jacob Vinson was another stroke back with a 45, and Conner Hoke was the final HNHS player, with a 54.
"Proud of the way the guys fought in the nasty weather," commented HNHS Head Coach Richard Winter. "Rain and cold make it tough playing, but every kid fought hard to score well in the weather conditions. I feel like we took a nice step forward tonight and hopefully the weather will start to cooperate with us from here on out."
Connor Eichemaeur was Manchester's top scorer with a 45. Austin Whitaker shot a 49, Xzavier Whitaker had a 50 and Kiowa Herrell shot a 54.
All five HNHS junior varsity players cracked the 50 mark on the way to a 184-280 blitzing of their Manchester foes.
Dakota Hunt and Vinson posted scores of 45, while Michael May, Aidan Wright and Kyle Parker each shot rounds of 47.
