The Huntington North High School varsity baseball team broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and beat visiting Columbia City 6-2 on Friday, April 26.
Evan Brown, playing his first game of the season, went two for three with two runs batted in to lead the Vikings, 6-3. Drew Schnitz, also making his season debut, had an RBI, as did Devon Goelz and Connor West.
The fifth inning rally made a winner of Viking hurler Quinton Smith, who went all seven inning and gave up two earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and three walks, to get his first vistory in three decisions this season.
Columbia City got the first run of the game in the top of the first, but Huntington North tallied single runs in the second and third to take a 2-1 lead before Columbia City tied things with a run in the top of the fifth.
