Robert G. Eddie, 82, of Toledo, OH, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Toledo.
Mr. Eddie graduated from the University of Toledo in 1960. He served in the United States military for 23 years, spending most of that time in the Special Forces (Green Berets) with assignments world-wide including Korea and Vietnam. He later worked for National City Bank for 12 years, retiring as an assistant vice president of operations.
He was born Feb. 12, 1931, to Jesse C. and Louise W. Eddie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Darlene Lange Eddie.
Survivors include a son, Richard "Rick" (P.J.) Eddie, of Huntington; two daughters, Barbara (Ron) Orlowski, of Toledo, OH, and Karen (Don) Pirtle, of Canal Winchester, OH; seven grandchildren, Josh (Ravelle) Eddie, of Cambi; Dr. Brian (Shannon) Eddie, of Washington, DC; Michael (Ashley) Eddie, of Indianapolis; Emily (Aaron) West, of Fort Wayne; Jessica (Kyle) Scott and Nick Orlowski, both of Toledo, OH; and Benjamin Pirtle, of Canal Winchester, OH; and six great-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, April 29, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale, Ave., Toledo, OH. A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
