Winning three field events couldn't make up for the Huntington North High School girls' track team having only two wins on the track as it lost to host Fort Wayne Snider, 73-58, on Monday, April 29.
Paige Coolman and Onna Doering went 1-2, respectively, in the discus, Alexis Wygant and Lauren Sands did the same in the pole vault and Maddie Klender won the shot put with Caitlyn Sands placing third for a big chunk of the HNHS scoring.
Additionally, Abby Ness and Jami Fellow were second and third, respectively, in the high jump, and Lindsey Foster was second in the long jump.
But the Lady Vikings' success off the track wasn't matched on the track as only Alexa Shoemaker in the 300-meter hurdles and Kayla Patrick in the 800-meter run could garner first place points.
Coolman hurled the discus 103-4 for her win, while Klender heaved the steel ball 38-1.5 for her victory. Wygant cleared 8-0 to win the pole vault.
Shoemaker went :52.6 to win the hurdles race, and Patrick went 2:19.7 to beat teammate Hannah Stoffel to the line in the 800.
Runner-up spots for HNHS came from Allie Christian in the 100-meter hurdles, in :17.2, Marie Ditzler in the 1,600-meter run, in 5:36.9 and Foster in the 200-meter dash, in :26.6, and the long jump, at 16-7.
