The Huntington County Council on Aging's Senior Citizens' Exposition will return for a ninth year on May 23, showcasing businesses and services of interest to the Senior population.
The free event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Merillat Complex fieldhouse on the campus of Huntington University. Golf carts will be available to provide rides from the parking lot to the fieldhouse.
The first 500 people in line at 8 a.m. will be treated to a free breakfast provided by Sodexo Food Services of Huntington University.
Miller's Merry Manor, which served more than 900 lunches during last year's expo, will return this year to serve free lunches to all.
KNR-Meadowvale, Bluffton, is the afternoon snack sponsor.
A morning snack sponsor is still needed, organizers say.
Anyone interested is asked to call John Ulrich at 359-4410.
The number of booths at the expo has been increased by nearly 30 percent this year, bringing the number of spaces to 117.
Many of the exhibitors will have free handouts, and McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home will give out bags to make it easier to collect those items.
A few booth spaces are still available, organizers say.
More than 50 door prizes donated by businesses will be given away during the day. Guests who participate in the "passport program" will be entered in a drawing for a Walmart gift card.
Additional businesses willing to donate door prizes should call Ulrich.
The Huntington County Sheriff's Department will be on hand to collect unwanted prescription drugs, and the Council on Aging will showcase its plans for the new Senior Center and capital funding drive.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the day.
Corporate sponsors for the 2013 Senior Expo are Humana MarketPoint, Huntington Heating & Cooling, Markle Health & Rehabilitation, Miller's Merry Manor, Myers Funeral Homes, Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, Sodexo Food Services of Huntington University and United REMC.
