Erin Rethlake pitched another shutout and Maddi Kennedy had two doubles and two runs batted in to lead the Huntington North High School varsity softball team past host Logansport, 3-0, on Tuesday, May 7.
Rethlake handcuffed the Lady Berries on just one hit in seven innings and fanned 18, with no walks, as HNHS improved to 16-1 on the season. The junior has not been scored upon in her last 11 outings.
Rethlake and Logansport freshman Bailie Long matched zeroes for the first three innings of the contest before HNHS got a solo tally in the fourth inning and pushed across what proved to be two insurance runs in the fifth inning.
Aly Grabner went 4 for 4 with a three-run home run, a double and four runs batted in as the Huntington North Junior varsity softball team routed Logansport 17-5.
Tommie Mandel had a grand slam among three hits and also had 4 RBI for HNHS, 6-2. She also scored three runs.
Rylie Bowman had three hits, including a double, and scored three runs.
The offensive outburst was in support of pitcher Alexandra Kreider, who pitched a complete game and allowed 10 hits, with no walks.
