Mary Ellen Martin, 91, of Vera Cruz, and having family members in Huntington County, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at 10 p.m. at Adams Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Ossian Church of the Nazarene and a member of the former Mulberry Street Wesleyan Church, in Bluffton. She attended Luckey School, in Adams County.
She was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Keenesburg, IL, to James C. and Mary M. Hedge Lovellette. She married Ervin O. Martin on May 16, 1937, in Monroe. Her husband preceded her in death on April 8, 1987,
Survivors include two sons, Leroy (Carole) Martin, of Decatur, and Randy Martin, of Toledo, OH; 10 daughters, Judy Mikesell, Brenda (Bob) Haddix, Marilyn Striker, Kathy Martin, Christine (Bryce) Schug and Lisa (Ron) Stewart, all of Bluffton; Beverly (Norm) Espy and Becky (Pat) Bennett, both of Warren; Carol Gish, of Geneva; and Sherry (John) Hacker, of Huntington; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A service was held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Goodwin-Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, Bluffton. Burial was at the Vera Cruz Cemetery, in Vera Cruz.
