The United Way of Huntington County and Parkview Huntington Family YMCA are teaming up to host the 2013 Olympic Day and Sprint Triathlon on Aug. 24.
The main sponsor of the event is Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Olympic Day is a community wide event that will feature Olympic-style events for families and individuals of all ages. Events will promote the health and well-being of the Huntington community.
Most activities are free and the first 100 participants to sign up will receive a T-shirt.
The Sprint Triathlon is chaired by Todd Latta, fitness director with the YMCA. The event will host both teams and individuals wishing to participate.
The Team Sprint Triathlon is a three-person relay-style team event, where each team member participates in one of the three events.
The Individual Sprint Triathlon is for individuals who will participate in all three events. This year's bike course, coordinated by Mayor Brooks Fetters, is 12 miles.
Mapping the running course this year is Bob Jennings with a 3.1-mile run and 800-yard swim in the YMCA's indoor pool.
Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. and the race will begin at 7:15 a.m. Registration and detailed race information can be found on the United Way of Huntington County website at www.unitedwayhuntingtoncounty.org/minitriathlon .
