Richard G. Little, 86, of North Manchester, and a former resident of Bippus, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at 11:40 a.m.
Mr. Little was a 1945 graduate of Chester High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He was a retired farmer and also retired from the Huntington County Community School Corporation after working for 15 years as a school custodian and football field groundskeeper.
He was active in the 4-H program, serving as a township leader for 25 years as a state fair judge for five years and as a district tractor leader. He was a 40-year member of the state 4-H tractor program, coaching five national tractor winners. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Huntington; a former member of the Bippus Lions Club; and a member of Indiana Farm Bureau for more than 65 years.
He was born May 14, 1927, n Huntington to Willard and Emma Murray Little. He married Phyllis A. Schuler on Sept. 12, 1948, and she survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, John R. (Patsy) Little, of Marion, and Kent A. (Michelle) Little, of Silver Lake; three daughters, Susanne (Ernest) Crane, of Orleans; Elaine A. (Gregory) Lucas, of Indianapolis; and Cheryl H. (Lynn) Wilcox, of Lagro; a brother, Robert (Betty) Little, of Jacksonville, FL; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind.-114 West, North Manchester. A service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 10 am., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester. Burial will be at the Roann Community Cemetery, Roann.
