Freshman Emma Helmich won two individual events and swam on two winning relays to lead the Huntington North High School girls' swim team past host Manchester and Whitko on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Junior Samantha McCann also won two individual events for the Lady Vikings, who scored 98 points to 61 for Manchester and 10 for Whitko.
Helmich won the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:09.24, and the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:12.56, to lead HNHS to nine wins overall. She teamed with Maggie Warpup, Kathie Schenkel and Cassy Lange to win the 200-yard medley relay, in 2:06.66, and the same foursome took the 200-yard freestyle relay, in 1:51.90.
McCann got her victories in the 50-yard freestyle, in :27.69, and the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:20.57.
Schenkel and Lange also had wins on the evening. Schenkel took the 200-yard freestyle in 2:10.92, and Lange led Schenkel across the finish line in the 100-yard freestyle, winning in :59.53.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Aliva Eiting, Kaitlin Biehl, Laura Speziali and Addison Clark got the remaining HNHS win, in 4:41.22.
Warpup added second placed points for the Lady Vikings in the 100 fly, Alexandra Short took third in the 200 free and Biehl took third in the 500 free.
